Back to School look

Ah, September…the time of year to revamp your wardrobe and spend two weeks dressing nicely for your college classmates. Of course, by the end of the month we have all switched to sweatpants and sneakers, but for the first few weeks, everyone looks a bit more polished.

I tried to be as realistic as possible here with my clothing, hair, and make-up choices. As a Uni student, most of the time I would leave my hair down or throw it in a quick pony— so here I chose a high ponytail. Unintentionally, two pieces of my outfit are from H&M, which is an affordable brand I frequented in university. The light jacket is a staple I purchased a couple years ago, but H&M always has a few versions of the black fitted jacket for a business-casual look. The top is a recent purchase that I thought was a great mix of the varsity-inspired colors and the on-going crop-top frenzy. The jeans are a high-waisted pair from Cheap Monday, and the Zara sneakers have been previously featured on this blog post. Finally, I have actually used the Steve Madden tote to carry my books, iPad, and wallet to school. When I purchase a large bag I expect it to hold up to a lot of book-weight without the straps breaking, and this one fits the bill.

Most college students I met wore minimal makeup on a day-to-day basis (myself included). But on some days of the week I would put in the extra time to apply some eyeliner or lipstick. In the photo above, I did a simple eye flick with the super-affordable NYC liquid eyeliner, and paired it with one of my favorite lip colors by Ofra: Kathleen Lights x Havana Nights. I’ve gotten stopped in the street for this color, and I can’t recommend it enough.
