The City that Stole my Heart
I understand that this photograph may be misleading, considering my sweatshirt says “Paris” and I was in fact no-where near France. I recently took a long weekend to visit my dream city in early November, right as the Christmas lights were being fastened above the busy streets, and temperatures were dropping by the minute. My boyfriend and I enjoyed three glorious days of popping in and out of beautifully decorated shops as well as visiting old favorites such as Carnaby Street and discovering Liberty for the first time. (Yes I know, I have been missing this in my life!)
Upon reflecting on my move to Europe, I know that I am definitely a creature of habit; I find myself settling into my new home in the Netherlands, familiarizing myself with the streets of Utrecht and Amsterdam, and falling in love with the quirks of Dutch life as the years go on. But despite this growing familiarity, I simply can not suppress the feeling that someday, at the right time, I need to move to London.
On this crisp weekend, the morning temperatures were cooler than I had anticipated, so I improvised on my outfit by layering a black turtleneck from ASOS underneath this rad graphic sweatshirt from Topshop. The two pieces together really did the trick and combined were perfect for when the sun decided to come out in the afternoon. I texturized this outfit with these salmon-colored velvet pants and pulled out my Miu Miu sunglasses for a bit of cat-eye fun. Let’s just say, I felt appropriately dressed for the occasion (ahem, shopping!).
When the time came to board the plane home, I was already looking forward to my next visit to this grandiose city. But, until I learn how to get a flat in London I suppose I will continue to cherish my short trips, and daydream about life in the big city.
