I love infusing current trends into my outfits, but at the same time I like to keep around my quality wardrobe items that really last, and make them work for the current season. Example: Oversized, long coats in black, camel, faux fur, etc, are all the rage, and while I would love to get my hands on more of these trending pieces, I have many coats from past seasons that still warrant wear every year. This coat is one from a few seasons back, and has a less on-trend cut with a high-low hem, rather than long and straight. Thus, I undid all the buttons, let the tie hang loose, and layered it over some trending pieces and created an up-to-date look.
It is important to keep your personal taste as trends move on, and frankly, most of us can not afford to buy a new set of jackets every season. So, get a bit of creativity on. How can you adjust that coat you bought three years ago and wear it like you saw it yesterday? If you still love it, rock it.
