Shoulder Pad Edition

Back in early September, I mentioned that blazers were going to be a huge part of my fall inspo this year, and here I am again with another gorgeous autumn coat. This pink, wool blend number from Zara is fantastic quality, and suits me as an oversized jacket but could easily work as a unisex piece. Zara has encouraged a mix of men’s and women’s clothing in their most recent editorial, and I am 100% on board with their androgynous styling!

Aside from the major influences from men’s tailoring, shoulder pads are the game changer this fall. The extra padding is reasonably extreme on this salmon-colored jacket, but there are plenty of over-the-top and minimal options to choose from for the coming season, as seen in my post here. If you are shopping for the perfect blazer, here are my tips:

Going trendy? Get something like this blazer from Urban Outfitters. It will automatically flatter your figure due to the extreme proportions, and will easily pair with anything from jeans to wool trousers.

Looking for a classic piece? Shoulder pads can be subtle as well, and add a bit of structure to your look. Choose something like this piece from J Crew for a put-together and timeless option.

I love that blazer. the color is distinctly feminine, with the cut masculine. absolutely lovely.
