Getting Waisted | Wide Belt Edit

While I love exploring trends and finding how to work them into my personal style, I was a bit slow to jump onto the corset bandwagon. We have seen this style coming for quite some time, with major influences from the Kardashians and kimono sashes, and now out on to the streets. With so many options and sources to choose from, I could not decide how these belts were going to work for my style. However, I finally opted to get a wide leather belt with a bit of an 80’s feel; a staple color and cut that can pair with several outfits this season.

The entire idea of this belt vibe is to majorly enhance your figure. Oversized and breezy items are now at the mercy of straps and belts, giving this trend so much versatility and personal touch. You could certainly purchase a top or dress that includes belted details attached (like this one from ASOS). However, grabbing a separate belt or corset allows you to layer it over dresses, tops, and light jackets, and expand your closet possibilities!

For this casual outfit, I took an oversized button-up from TopShop and wrapped my leather belt around to create more of a tunic style. To make the outfit more to my taste, I paired it with these mom jeans from TopShop in a washed deep blue shade, and a pair of simple flats for ease of walking. Finally, finished off with these cool aviator glasses for a little extra zazz.
