I may be alone on this one, but I am pretty excited that harem pants are making a small comeback. Circa 2010 I probably owned at least 3 pairs of this fabulous cut, and I have recently seen it making a quiet return for this spring and summer. Despite its unusual silhouette, I think harem pants can be rather flattering when properly styled and cut. The extra fabric in the crotch area is sometimes overwhelming, making it tricky to find a pair that flatters your body type. In short, the less extra material the more wearable, and the pair I am wearing today is very easy to style!

Harem cuts are the essence of casual cool LA girl style, and are a great option for those late spring and early summer outfits. It is one of my favorite pieces for the summer due to its effortless feel and generally lose fit; exactly what I want for a breezy spring afternoon! Free People have come out with some excellent options this year, and they always do such beautiful prints on their spring and summer pant collections. This mustard colored one here is definitely my fave, albeit a little intense! I may have to snatch it up next time I visit the States! 🙂

As I mentioned above, I think this pair of harem pants from Zara is quite adaptable, with a cute little polka-dot print and navy blue silky fabric. This is another staple item that could easily become a day or a night outfit, and would look super chic with a pair of statement heels. I have finished my outfit off with a little saddle bag, a well-loved pair of pointed toe shoes from Steve Madden, and a loose T from Urban Outfitters.

Let me know what you think in the comments!
