[edgt_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”#000000″ background_color=””]I[/edgt_dropcaps] have never been shy about my lipstick colors; a bold red is just as empowering as an extra shot of espresso in the morning! However, the last few years I have embraced my other, simpler side, and I now consider myself just as fond of nude lipsticks. I would love to do another of these posts in the red category, but, let’s leave those sexy hues for another day and have a look at a few neutrals that I simply can’t live without!
Summers are my chance to wear slightly less makeup and let my skin enjoy the sunshine from time to time. Of course, I always layer SPF underneath my foundation, but lighter foundations without powder are easier to manage when the sun wears down on my makeup. The simpler, the better. To stay au natural, I always reach for one of my trusty nude lip shades, and I have these four selections in a slight rotation depending on the undertone and sheen that I am lusting for.
Firstly, I can not write this post without mentioning my newest love, which is the Bare Minerals Gen Nude lipgloss in ‘Groovy’. I am aware that this is not a lipstick, but I am generally not a fan of lipglosses and this one is a complete exception. Absolutely not sticky, smells great, and the perfect amount of pigmentation. It is literally my one and only lip gloss formula, and I suppose I will have to buy the whole range!
A very affordable love of mine is Milani in the shade Bahama Beige. A favorite both last year and this year, it works so well with a bit of a tan and has a lovely yellow-brown hue for an ultra-chic look. On the other end of the price spectrum, also with a nice yellow undertone, is Charlotte Tilbury ‘Hepburn Honey” in that irresistible rose gold packaging. Although pricey, the formula is excellent and I am always reaching for it.
My all-time favorite and the shade I am wearing in this post is the mother of all nudes; the most divine mix of warm and neutral cream shades, and a dream for fair-skinned girls like me: Bite Beauty’s ‘Honeycomb’. When I purchased this in Sephora, an associate said that it was her most favorite shade of all time. I thought that was quite bold, but as of now, I do not have any other nude lipsticks that top the ease of use, excellent formula, shade, and price point. It is faintly lemon scented, and I generally do not like that ‘flavor’ so to speak, but in this formula, it somehow enhances the experience. It is so lovely in the summer, and I am sure it can work with skin tones deeper than mine since there is a dash of pink mixed in with the brown tones.
Let me know what your must-have neutral shades are, and what your summer go-to shades have been in the comments! I am always looking to expand my already-overflowing collection. Here’s to too many lipsticks!
