For the second year in a row, August is here and I am still waiting for summer to finally arrive. The Netherlands has notoriously sporadic weather in the summer months, and this year was just as disappointingly wet and dreary as the previous. Despite the fact that summer should be in full swing, I can already feel myself shifting into fall mode and digging out my warmer socks and sweaters.  Perhaps there are still a few sunny days in store for us, but if there is one thing I have learned as a Dutch resident, it is to find those summer rays somewhere else.

Today I am giving you my first pre-fall (but very much fall-inspired) outfit. It does not hurt that it rained all day, that the ground is scattered with golden leaves, or that I am wearing a woolen blazer that would look at home on a university campus. Back-to-school vibes, forest green layering pieces, and preppy silhouettes; all things I love, and look forward to styling in the late summer. These ultra-high-waisted pants from Current Air are my personal spin on this academic get-up, embodying true versatility by fitting both in casual and clean-cut outfits.

I certainly have a soft spot for early fall looks, but that will not stop me lamenting my lost summer! Hopefully, yours has been lovely and warm and you are ready to relax into the comforting transitional season that is autumn.

What a bummer about the weather. Growing up in san francisco we had summers like that as well. you could go weeks without sunshine 🙁
